Reverse/Brake LED Upgrades for Improving Tail Lighting

REVERSE/ BRAKE LED UPGRADES

WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE TAILLIGHT?

Before reading this article, we can first understand the purpose of the tail lights of a vehicle. Every vehicle driven on the road must have taillights that include brake and backup lights.

These lights are necessary to tell other motorists behind you when your car will be slowing down, coming to a stop, or reversing.

Without brake lights, there is no way for drivers to know when the car in front of them is slowing down or coming to a stop. And reverse lights allow you to see more clearly the obstacles behind you when backing up.

WHAT CAUSES DIM TAIL LIGHTS?

If the connector is clean and OK, and all of the signalization works properly but emits less light than usual. This is because any standard halogen bulbs naturally dim over time.

And the tail light lenses also become cloudy often due to dust particles settling into the microscopic gaps in the plastic lenses. The same thing can happen to reflectors for they can get dim.

Cloudy taillight housings can be cleaned to become clean and clear, and upgrading out-of-function taillight bulbs to LED lights is an easy and inexpensive way to do so.

HOW DO YOU MAKE REVERSE LIGHTS BRIGHTER?

There are many options for replacing taillight bulbs, you can go ahead and choose halogen for a cheap replacement, or you can choose HID or LED bulbs for an upgrade.

However, it is important to note that replacement halogen bulbs will still have the disadvantage of becoming dimmer over time. We also don't recommend replacing taillight bulbs, which are low power bulbs, with HIDs, because taillights don't need much power to run and HIDs cost slightly more than halogen bulbs.

For halogen bulbs and HID bulbs, we would recommend LED bulbs that consume less energy and are brighter. They can also be switched on and off in spite of inclement weather with lower temperatures, and are more responsive than other bulbs, which also allows oncoming traffic behind you to know more quickly what you want to do next.

Not only can ensuring your driving safety further, but LED bulbs have a longer life and will not dim with long service life. At the same time, the cool white light or bright red tail light gives your vehicle a more technical look.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT LED TAILLIGHT BULB?

1. The model of taillight bulb you need.

You can call your vehicle manufacturer or dealership to find out the bulb size required for your vehicle. By providing them with your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), they can supply you with that information the majority of the time.

Of course, AUXITO has a more convenient way, click here to enter your model (Make/Model/Year) and select the location, we will recommend the right product for you.

2. Right Color

Well, if you’re driving some muscle car, a unique color would add to the appearance. Likewise, if you’re driving a family sedan, a simple cool white color would do a great job. So, choose the LED light color according to your requirements. And if your taillight housing is red, no matter you chooses white or red light, the final display will be a red light.

3. Best taillight brightness

The brightness of LEDs measured in lumens instead of watts, and generally, you should choose the one which is bright enough to notice. Anything above 500 lumens does a pretty good job, but taillights with 1,500 lumens above are considered too bright. Of course, if you live in a dim environment and need taillights to illuminate the rear, then you can choose brighter ones, depending on your personal needs.
